Emma has served as Secretary of Rice Young Democrats since her freshman year — after she knocked dorm doors with RYD on the day of the 2024 presidential election and made a promise to herself to actively defend our democracy. Outside of RYD, Emma loves y2k rom-coms, her cat and dog, babysitting the cutest 2-year-old, staying until midnight at Chaus, and all things outdoors — paddle boarding and Nordic skiing are some of her favs! She also runs cross country and track for Rice and once griddied across a finish line. Emma's areas of academic interest include Ukraine and post-Soviet states, Francophone countries and cultures, and women's health.

Izzy runs community outreach for Rice Young Democrats and has been on the executive board since her freshman year. Her favorite memory from last year was Democracy and Donuts, where we partnered with West University Dems for roundtable discussions about the political atmosphere and the issues of the moment. Her interests include Latin American migration, the United Nations and its role in globalization and development, and public health. She loves running and is on the Rice women's cross country team. In her free time she loves travelling, going to sports games, and trying new coffee shops and restaurants!
